If you have been having knee pain on and off (but mostly on) for several years, it may be time for you to think about getting a knee replacement. A knee replacement is when a physician goes in and scrapes out all of your damaged cartilage and then replaces it with a new metal knee. This will allow you to move and walk like you haven't been able to in years. Here are a few signs that it may be time to talk to your doctor about getting scheduled for the operation.

Knee Pain is Constant

If your knee pain used to be bad sometimes during the day, but it has become a constant pain, it may be about time. In the early stages of cartilage pain, you may have found that only certain actions caused you pain. Knee problems can be treated with physical therapy and cortisone injections, but the efficacy of these treatments may wane after you have been doing the same thing for several years. When you find that your treatments are not treating the problem like they once were, it may be time for a knee replacement. 

Daily Tasks Are Challenging

When it feels like almost every action you take in your daily life becomes challenging, you need to talk to your doctor. If you feel like you are unable to care for yourself or those who need you in your family, your quality of life may be unsatisfying.
